Are you a Night Owl or Early Riser? And Why?
I’m an early riser, and this is something I’ve learned over time. One the off day I’m a night owl as I find myself more creative into the early morning hours but for the majority of my life, I’m an early riser. I find getting up early is the only way to fit in everything I want to in a day, so I’ve decided to make the most of my mornings.
How does being an Early Riser impact your daily hustle?
Being an early riser has allowed me to structure my day to balance out both work and personal life. I often try to get in my workout first thing in the morning, that way I start with a shot of endorphins and am fully awake to start working. This also allows me to set aside evenings for work-related events, whether it’s the opening of a new store or a talk I’m giving, and if it’s not work related something at night, then it’s catching up with a friend or enjoying a nice dinner in. One of my favourite parts of being an early riser is starting the day when the city is quiet, there’s a sense of peace walking through the city when half of the people are still sleeping. I also love to grab a matcha latte at Tokyo Smoke before it gets busy and chat with the barista or other people in the community, rather than grabbing my drink and rushing to work, I can enjoy these simple moments and interactions allowing my day to start on a positive note.
Tell us about your daily sleep ritual (give us all the details)?
Sleep is a vital part of my life. As in, I used to have a terrible sleeping schedule and have recently been able to master it – to some extent. I used to find myself taking near an hour to fall asleep and often tossing and turning all night. After paying attention to my thoughts and working on calming down before sleeping, often with a book, I find I’m able to sleep much better. I also cut out caffeine a year and a half ago which has improved my sleeping significantly. My best ritual for sleep is sticking to a schedule, I normally curl into bed by 10:30/11pm and either read a book or watch one short 20min episode on Netflix, then lights out, phone on do not disturb and off to sleep I go.
Currently, what can we find on your bedside table?
I recently moved so my bedside table doesn’t have a lot on it, I’m working on keeping things in their own place. I have a few books more for decor purposes, along with a water bottle, candle, lip chap and my daily vitamins so I don’t forget to take them.
What is your favourite sleep-related product?
My favourite sleep-related product would have to be my Endy pillows. Not only are they the comfiest pillows I’ve had to date but the biggest feature is you can take out stuffing to make sure it’s the right thickness for you. I used my extra stuffing to create a travel pillow so wherever I go I can get a good sleep!
