The Best NYC Rooftops and Gardens

August 10, 2017

Finding a space in the concrete jungle doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice fresh air. Bring the heat to one of our top picks for outdoor space in New York.

There’s no shortage of impressive spaces available to our New York community, but this time of year there’s a special draw to the open air. Check out a few of our favorite spots to fully bask in the glory that is an NYC summer.

Iconic Rooftop Patio

A rooftop is fun in its own right, but add in multi-level seating, room for 150 people, and a ping-pong table and you have all the components a really good time. Pop-ups, weddings and networking happy hours all get a boost from sweeping views of Brooklyn and Prospect Park.

Rooftop Space with Waterfront View

With an expansive view from an intimate setting, this private rooftop space in Greenpoint is great for small events, record release parties, and photo shoots. We suggest booking it around golden hour for a front row seat of the sun sinking down over Manhattan.

Historic Sugar Hill Townhouse and Garden

Open for production, events and meetings, this space that has been featured in Vogue and the New York Times and has been used by Wes Anderson. Coupled with the humidity of the summer, the lush back garden will take you out of Manhattan make you feel like you’re in the side streets of NOLA.

Soho Loft and Rooftop

This whitewashed loft and rooftop with 360-degree city views is primed for your next dinner party. Food in the loft followed by aperitifs under the city lights is a recipe for rave reviews.

Contemporary Hudson Yards Roof

Take it to the next level (literally: it’s a rooftop) with this venue—one of the biggest open-air event spaces in Manhattan. If you’re concerned about lack of air conditioning or impending rain, don’t be—a clear tent can enclose the full 5,000-square-feet, so you get climate control without sacrificing views of the Hudson.

These balmy nights won’t last forever,  create an excuse to book one of these spaces before September comes and tag @thisopenspace with your event pics.
