[FIRST LOOK] is where we introduce a new pop-up for the very first time. It's now in our Upcoming calendar and should be in yours too.
Would you look at that. Steven Shepherd, young Vancouver artist captures all things ephemeral, moments, light, atmosphere. Join us for the public opening of #PhotoShepherd: 365 Days Of Images tomorrow night and see what 365 days can look like through the eyes and lens of someone else. Opening: Friday Feb 20th 5PM - 11PM.
It took him one radically inspiring photo course in high school to jump into photography all arms and legs, no turn backs. Being in the habit of taking pictures everyday, Shepherd cultivates his craft through repetition. Most often using a Cannon 5D Mark 3 with a 50mm lens, Shepherd is always looking and has a love for Vancouver that he finds in the woods, on the docks, in the street. "The most beautiful things are often the farthest from what I know." Seeking out paths that aren't paved, finding all that's not typically beautiful is Shepherd's impulse. He mentions the Baden Powell Trail and the little path just off Quarry Rock where the power lines run up and down. Those power lines he recalls stood out to him, delicately lining the sky. He refigures the centre of things, throws off the balance in a shot for something better, something honest.
At the opening works will be for sale by silent auction starting at $100 a piece. Steven will be in attendance for Q & A and to celebrate this big deal show: 365 Days Of Images.
