[FIRST LOOK] is where we introduce a new pop-up for the very first time. It's now in our Upcoming calendar and should be in yours too.
Last week we visited the recently opened Branches & Knots pop-up shop in Kitsilano after being invited down by owner Naomi Anju.
In other seasons, Branches & Knots is a wholesale distributor of Japanese apparel and footwear. For the holidays they've ventured out to open a storefront of their own and offer their goods to the public throughout December.
In store, you'll find seasonally chic apparel under the Branches & Knots label - the same brand name as their distribution business. They carry rain boots by Wild Bird Society of Japan (WBSJ) and Rubb, footwear by Mizutori and Regetta Canoe, and JHA watches. "We are also the only dealer of (French accessories brand) Pylones in Vancouver", writes Naomi. We also spotted soaps by Jody's Naturals, a small family-run venture from Vancouver Island.
The stylish and practical WBSJ rain boots ($148 - pictured above) were our personal favourites. The all-natural rubber means they are pliable and fold away neatly - perfect for those quick weekend getaways in the Pacific Northwest when the forecast calls for rain (pretty much now until April).
Check out photos from our visit below and visit them at 3128 West Broadway (map below). The pop-up is open Monday to Thursday 11-6PM, Friday and Saturday 11-7PM, and Sunday 12-5PM. Bonus: Tell them we said hi and you'll get 10% off in-store.
