Meet 'A Good Book Drive', a winter time initiative that we support with glowing hearts at thisopenspace. A Good Book Drive 2014 is launching on Saturday, November 1st in Vancouver and Brooklyn to support One-to-One Literacy, a program that encourages struggling young students to develop a love of reading. It's been a blossoming success since it was founded by Cory Ashworth and Lizzy Karp in 2012. All children deserve to be enchanted by good books. Right?
From November 1 - 30, A Good Book Drive will be inspiring Vancouverites and New Yorkers to purchase a new copy of their favourite children's book and deliver it to set locations ( *ahem* 434 Columbia St *ahem*) to be donated to this year’s book drive recipients.
The cherry on top of donating a good book: Send a picture of yourself with your favourite childhood book (see Andrea Reimer, our All-Star Vancouver City Councillor on the right) and a brief story about it to [email protected] and you could be featured on AGoodBookDrive.com with a host of other bright eyed adults. Your photo may also land on the official instagram account so you can forever trace back to that day you donated a book and felt like an angel made of good karma and candy canes. This is some contagious good old fashioned fun, in a box. Come drop off a fresh book to our nest at 434 Columbia St.
