[FIRST LOOK] Independent Vancouver Designers Set To Open A Pacific Northwest Cabin Pop-Up #PortageShop

[FIRST LOOK] is where we introduce a new pop-up for the very first time. It's now in our Upcoming calendar and should be in yours too.

#PortageShop is a collaborative of down to earth, skilled designers inspired by the aesthetic of the Pacific Northwest Cabin. The power duo Andrea Wong & Melanie Hull kick-started this with a vision to unite designers who share a passion for sustainable design and a love of place. We agree that great design should be available to everyone, affordable, bursting with character, and made with love.  The week long pop-up shop will be showcasing work from a curated selection of Vancouver's best local makers and designers, in our Chinatown store transformed into a west-coast cabin. This band of merry Portage vendors see nature as the world's best designer. Here's a mini look book for your senses...

The 20+ designers are nailing the aesthetic in very different ways. You'll find silver jewelry, practical menswear, sophisticated swimwear, handbags, leather goods, salty cookies, East Van organic spreads, cedar smoked candles and more. Everything is appropriate for holiday gifts or the next camping trip, the stocking, the coffee table. Throw a Harlow candle in your backpack for emergencies and wrap one of Hendrik Lou's Peruvian alpaca wool scarves around your neck. You'll recognize these Vancouver based brands from stores and spaces like Bluhouse Market, Vancouver SpecialMuch & Little, Eastside FleaCapsule Market in Paris (what are the chances you've been?) and in the pages of Vogue Australia, no joke. These guys are serious.

You're invited to the opening night party on Tuesday, November 25 from 5-10PM. They'll have beer on tap, a necessity for any trip to the cabin. It's sort of like going to your friends cabin for the weekend except you can get your holiday shopping done and it's all a stone-throw away at our store in Chinatown.

What's more is that Andrea and Melanie have planned a cozy cabin dinner for you to connect with new local folks in a memorable setting. A long table dinner is slated for Friday, November 28 and Saturday, November 29. As we write, Saturday night's dinner is already sold out and there's only 11 tickets left for Friday's dinner, so get on it by snatching your ticket here. The menu's ridiculous. We're talkin' cured salmon, slow roasted pork loin followed by dessert and winter cocktails, of course. They're treating you real nice with a drink already included in your $35 ticket (yeah, believe it). Have you ever shared a tent with a stranger or praised the friend who brought matches for the fire? Well, it's that kind of theme.
